This policy can be found on our website at https://glasgow2024.org/about/disease-mitigation-policy/ . The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted that conventions need to be more mindful of communicable diseases when planning our events. This is why Glasgow 2024 is issuing a disease mitigation policy rather than a COVID policy: we need a policy which covers our position on COVID mitigations while also addressing other common infections. We have considered a range of factors in devising this policy. As a team of international volunteers, we are acutely aware that different governments have different policies and vaccine availability. As a team of people with varying needs, we also appreciate that some people are unable to be vaccinated for entirely valid reasons (e.g. allergy or age), while others are immuno-compromised, and there is overlap between these groups. We have given careful consideration to these factors and to current Scottish and UK government policies while devising our policy. Our policy is based on the current National Health Service (NHS) recommendations in Scotland as of November 2023. We have augmented these recommendations with additional mitigations and recommendations for our members. In summary the policy is as follows: * We strongly recommend that members be vaccinated, wear masks, and test daily for Covid-19 while attending the convention * Members should not physically attend the convention if they experience new and potentially contagious symptoms which have begun within the week prior to the event. Following this policy will be a matter for personal responsibility for each member. We will not ask members to evidence their vaccination status or recent test results when attending the convention. However, we will enforce the Code of Conduct in all applicable situations, including when one member’s choices about disease mitigation do not match another’s. We reserve the right to revise our policy to be more restrictive if dictated by new circumstances, but will not revise to a standard less restrictive than we are publishing in November 2023. ENDS
